Celadon Series

This collection was created rather early on in GVSU when I was experimenting with stoneware. I wanted to explore the limits of the clay and see how it could be used together with decorative slip. This is why many of the forms and surface decorative techniques differ from piece to piece and why the Blue Celadon glaze I used on every piece was so integral to this collection. Celadon is semi-opaque, so any marks made in the clay body or slips used are clearly visible. This glaze really brings out the surface decorations of each piece and they have been used as inspiration for later work.
